Out of the eight duvets tested, Ava Innes came out on top as the best luxury duvet to purchase this winter.
"There were a lot of promises with this duvet and I was both excited and curious to test it out – could it really be worth the £720 price tag? According to Ava Innes, 93% of its customers have said they sleep better with it, and apparently that’s down to its patented design and unique cashmere guard hair filling, with its weighted feeling sending ‘sensory feedback to the brain, relaxing and grounding the body’.
On opening up the box, it feels like unwrapping a luxury piece of clothing you’ve long waited for – you get an instant sense that it’s something a bit special. The detailed stitching and super-soft organic cotton cover scream quality and it almost seems a shame to put a duvet cover on it.
Interestingly, it’s not as plump as I expected from something so luxurious – it’s more akin to a classic wool duvet. But there’s a reason for this; due to the cashmere and wool filling being naturally insulating it doesn’t need to be packed up like feather down, meaning it’s compact to store too.
Despite its lack of puff, it definitely had the ‘weighted feel’ it promised and it truly was one of the best nights’ sleep we had – it regulated our temperatures well and it felt silky and cosseting to sleep under. If I was being pernickety, I found the edging a little stiff but I suspect that may soften over time. I was also a little surprised to find it didn’t come with a storage bag for the cost, but apparently, there are plans for that in 2025.
Being naturally odour-resistant and hypoallergenic, the natural cashmere and wool fibres make it a great alternative to down – ideal for those who want luxury but without the sniffles. You can also sleep soundly knowing Ava Innes duvets are made in the UK and cashmere goats have a lower carbon footprint than sheep.
It’s worth noting the brand offers a ‘couples duvet’ with an adjustable tog option for those who can’t decide, which I think could be a real game-changer for some sleepers. The upshot is, that buying an Ava Innes duvet feels like an investment, but if you want to feel pampered every time you climb into bed, this duvet is the one to go for."
